This Privacy Policy explains how SamsungTool ("we", "us", or "the Company"), the operator of the website samsungtool.us and the SamsungTool application (together, the "Software" and "Website"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal data when you use our Website, create an account, purchase a licence or Credits, or use the Software.

We are committed to handling personal data responsibly and in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore (PDPA) and, where applicable, other data-protection laws. This Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, our End User License Agreement (EULA).

By using the Website or the Software, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Website or the Software.

1. Who this Policy applies to

This Policy applies to visitors to the Website, registered account holders, and users of the Software. The Software is intended for use by professional mobile device repair technicians and service centers, and is not directed to children (see Section 11).

2. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

2.1 Information you provide to us

  • Account information — such as your name or business name, email address, username, and password (stored in hashed form) when you register.
  • Purchase and billing information — such as your billing name, billing address, country, and the details of the licences or Credits you purchase. Card and payment-instrument details are entered directly with our payment processor and are not stored on our own servers (see Section 2.4).
  • Support and communications — the content of messages, tickets, and correspondence you send to us, including any information you choose to include.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and licence-binding information — to activate and protect your licence, the Software and Website may collect technical information about the computer on which the Software runs, such as a hardware identifier, operating-system version, and application version.
  • Log and usage data — such as your IP address, access times, pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location derived from IP address, and actions taken within the Software or on the Website.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — our Website may use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the service, and understand how the Website is used (see Section 5).

2.3 Data relating to devices you service

To perform certain paid operations, the Software may transmit device identifiers (such as the model, IMEI, or serial number of the device being serviced) and details of the requested operation to our servers, in order to authorize and carry out the operation and to record Credit usage.

We do not access, collect, or store the personal contents of the devices you service — such as contacts, messages, photos, files, or account credentials stored on those devices. Responsibility for the data on any serviced device, and for obtaining the device owner's consent, rests with you as set out in the EULA.

2.4 Payment information

Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. When you make a purchase, your payment details are provided directly to the processor, which handles them under its own privacy policy and security standards. We receive only limited transaction information (such as confirmation of payment, the last digits or type of card, and billing country) needed to complete your order, manage your account, and meet our accounting obligations.

3. How we use personal data

We use personal data to:

  • create and manage your account and provide the Software and its Features;
  • activate, verify, and protect your licence, and prevent unauthorized use or sharing of licences;
  • process purchases, allocate and track Credits, and issue receipts and invoices;
  • provide customer and technical support and respond to your enquiries;
  • send service and product communications (such as updates, security notices, and licence or account information), and, where permitted, marketing messages you can unsubscribe from at any time;
  • maintain the security and integrity of the Software and Website, and detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and violations of our EULA;
  • comply with legal, regulatory, tax, and accounting obligations; and
  • operate, analyze, and improve the Website and the Software.

4. Legal bases for processing

Where the PDPA applies, we process personal data on the basis of your consent and, where permitted, the legitimate-interests and other exceptions available under the PDPA. Where the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or a similar law applies to you, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (providing the Software and processing your orders); our legitimate interests (such as securing the service, preventing fraud, and improving our products), balanced against your rights; compliance with a legal obligation; and your consent, where we ask for it (for example, for certain cookies or marketing).

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Our Website may use cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary for the Website to function (such as keeping you signed in and securing your session), as well as optional cookies for preferences and analytics. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Website from working properly. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

6. How we share personal data

We do not sell your personal data. We disclose personal data only as described below:

  • Service providers. We share personal data with trusted third parties that provide services on our behalf — such as hosting and infrastructure, payment processing, email and communications, customer support, analytics, and fraud-prevention and security services — who are permitted to use it only to provide those services to us.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose personal data where we believe in good faith that it is required to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request; to enforce our EULA; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
  • With your consent. We may share personal data for other purposes with your consent or at your direction.

7. International data transfers

We operate from the Republic of Singapore, and we and our service providers may store and process personal data in countries other than the one in which you are located. Where we transfer personal data outside Singapore, we take reasonable steps to ensure that it is protected to a standard comparable to that required under the PDPA. Where the GDPR applies, such transfers are made using an approved transfer mechanism (such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses).

8. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account remains active and for as long as necessary to provide the Software, and thereafter for as long as we are required or permitted to keep it — for example, to comply with our legal, tax, and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When personal data is no longer needed for these purposes, we delete it or anonymize it.

9. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, use, alteration, disclosure, or loss — including encryption of data in transit, access controls, and hashing of passwords. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use of your account (see the EULA).

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and request information about how it is used;
  • correct personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • withdraw consent to our collection, use, or disclosure of your personal data, on reasonable notice (this may mean we can no longer provide certain services to you); and
  • request deletion of your personal data, subject to the records we are required or permitted by law to retain.

Where the GDPR or a similar law applies to you, you may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request. If you are in Singapore and are not satisfied with how we handle your personal data, you may also contact the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) of Singapore.

11. Children's privacy

The Software and Website are intended for professional use by adults and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

12. Third-party links and services

The Website and the Software may contain links to, or integrate with, third-party websites and services that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service you use.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Software, or applicable law. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the Website or the Software. Your continued use of the Website or the Software after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Policy.

14. Contact us

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your personal data — including to reach our data-protection contact — please contact us:
